DR RODNEY FORD MD. MB. BS. FRACP. Associate. Professor
SUBJECT: The Energy Effect – the value of excellent nutritional health, on food allergy, eczema and “the gluten syndrome”.
Dr Rodney Ford has over 30 years clinical experience as a Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Nutrition Consultant and Allergist, managing children and adults with food allergies and food intolerances. Some people call him the medical food doctor. He runs the ‘Children’s Clinic and Allergy Centre‘ in Christchurch, New Zealand. He is an accomplished author and public speaker, and a passionate advocate of food allergy and intolerance sufferers, everywhere.
“Every day in my Clinic I see children and adults who unknowingly are suffering from symptoms caused by the food they eat. My goal is to help my patients and the general public to understand the food they eat can seriously effect their health. I would like to help you with a diagnosis of gluten allergy, food intolerance and other food reactions.”
His vision is to help parents identify children who are suffering from food-related problems.
As a child’s doctor, he sees and helps with a wide range of child health problems and illness. He investigates and helps children who have chronic health problems. Sometimes their symptoms turn out to be food intolerance, food allergies and nutritional related conditions. He fully investigates and diagnoses these sorts of problem. Dr Ford is an author of many books on gluten sensitivity and food allergy. He is also an accomplished international professional speaker and provides nutritional consulting services to organisations. SUBJECT: Balance Your Hormones
Most people know Dr Messenger as a Chiropractor thanks to her flourishing private practice but she also has over 35 year experience as a public speaker and course facilitator. Through her best-selling books (Be in One Peace; How to Balance Your Hormones) Dr Messenger has touched the lives of many.
Dr Messenger’s academic qualifications are impressive. She has a Bachelor Degree in Applied Science (1982); a Diploma from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (USA); an Excellence Award in Radiology; a Diploma of Sacro-Occipital Technique; Practitioner and Teacher Certificates in Chiron Healing; Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training; is a certified Yoga (RYTA200) teacher; is certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) as applied to education; as well as studying Aromatherapy; and Australian Bush Flower Essences.
DR. MARGARET SMITH FNZIMLS, BSc (Hons), PhD, MHGSA & AUTHOR
SUBJECT: DNA Testing
Dr. Margie Smith is a Molecular Geneticist with over 20 years experience in Neuro-genetics and Cancer genetics. She has worked in major teaching hospitals in New Zealand and Australia. Specifically Margie in her role as Head of Department worked with families affected by early-onset Alzheimer’s disease and more recently in the diagnostic screening for heritable breast, breast/ovarian cancer and rare cancers. In addition, she developed screening methods for Molecular Microbiology and Haematology within Pathology services. In addition, Margie was responsible for the establishment of tests, training of medical staff, staff management, purchasing of equipment, liaising with medical staff, and maintaining NATA accreditation.
Her commitment to breast cancer screening was recognised by an American based company Transgenomics. Margie established high throughout genetic analysis using WAVE Technology for Transgenomics. This enabled cost effective breast cancer screening to be used in diagnostic laboratories in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Specifically the screen was used by The Canadian Breast Cancer Consortium across seven sites.
Margie is recognised locally for her contribution to genetics with her appointments to the Human Variome Project, Scientific Associate of the Genomic Disorders Research Centre, and Associate Investigator for the NH&MRC grant application for funding to provide a database for collection of sequence variation, Member of Victorian Cooperative Oncology Group since 2000. Margie has published in the areas of both cancer and neurogenetics and she has recently contributed to the publication Dementia. Margie is also a published Author releasing Gene Genius in 2015.
In 2009 Margie became the co-founder of a Nutritional Genomics company in Australia called smartDNA. This company has established affordable, Predictive and Preventative Nutrition based genetic and microbiome testing for practitioners and their clients. smartDNA’s Nutritional profiling is personalised and covers a broad range of health areas to enable practitioners to employ targeted approaches to health. smartDNA is successfully challenging the one size fits approach to nutrition and health.
PROFESSOR CLIFF HAWKINS
SUBJECT: Using natural plant enzymes to help with digestion
Professor Hawkins studied for his Honours Degree in Chemistry from the University of New South Wales’ college at Newcastle and for his PhD in Medical Chemistry from the John Curtin School of Medical Research at the Australian National University in Canberra in 1963.
He was awarded a Doctor of Science by ANU in 1980. He has the distinction of being awarded the Mendeleev Medal by the Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences for outstanding work in Chemistry, and the Inorganic Chemistry Medal of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.
He has held academic and research appointments at the HC Oersted Institute of the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of California Berkeley, the University of California Davis, University of Virginia Charlottesville, and the University of Queensland, where he was Professor of Chemistry, Dean of Science and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Biological Sciences) prior to taking the appointment as Principal of the University of New England – Armidale, Australia’s leading rural university.
His work with the cattle industry led to the headquarters of the Beef Cattle Research Centre being named the “CJ Hawkins Homestead”. He has held the Presidency of the Australian Registered Cattle Breeders Association Inc and the Australian Coral Reef Society Inc.
He left academe in 1994 to work in the medical industry firstly as the CEO of ICT Diagnostics and Austcard International that developed and sold rapid diagnostic tests for a range of important diseases, and to research why members of his own family had life-threatening health conditions and how he could overcome these serious conditions.
His research in this area led to invention of the Biohawk technology and the production of Biohawk’s ginger and pineapple products.
