SUBJECT: Regenerative Agriculture: Healthy food, Healthy people, Healthy planet

Charlie gained a BSc in Zoology at ANU (1976), before going farming and developing a prominent Merino sheep stud business (Severn Park).  He still manages the family’s grazing property in NSW while teaching at universities and consulting in the fields of Merino breeding, regenerative agriculture and landscape design.

He has chaired and served as a Director on a number of national and international review panels and boards of business, research organisations and statutory wool bodies, involving garment manufacture, wool marketing, R&D, molecular genetics and genomics.

Charlie has engaged in freelance journalism since 1977, and has published books on Merino sheep history and the political destruction of the Australian wool industry.

His concern about land degradation and the Anthropocene crisis led to him completing a PhD in Human Ecology (ANU) in 2012. This resulted in his new book, Call of the Reed Warbler: A New Agriculture – A New Earth (UQP Sept. 2017; Chelsea Green 2018) concerning the emergence of a regenerative agriculture in Australia and cause for hope


SUBJECT: Emotional Freedom Techniques for Food and Weight Issues: What have we learnt from 10 years of Research? 

In this session Dr Peta Stapleton overviews the complete EFT technique and how to apply it, and the Australian and international research and evidence that has been conducted on applying it to weight and food issues.  Dr Stapleton is Australia’s leading EFT researcher and has led numerous world first clinical trials, including a brain scan study. This session will be  practical and hands-on (you will learn the technique) and enjoyable.  Handouts are supplied.


Associate Professor Peta Stapleton is a clinical/health psychologist at Bond University, Australia, and embraces evidence-based practice and is passionate about new and innovative techniques. Peta is known worldwide for her food cravings/weightloss research using Emotional Freedom Techniques or ‘Tapping’, and has led a world first study investigating the impact of tapping in the brain through a fMRI study.

Peta has also led the way to having this stress reduction tool be included in schools worldwide. Tapping in the Classroom® was created as a universal wellbeing program for teachers to use the technique of Tapping with students of all ages in a classroom situation. Peta developed this online training with personal support to give teachers an effective self-applied stress management tool. She also delivers Evidence Based EFT as a skills training for health professionals and has been recognised with the Harvey Baker Research Award for meticulous research in energy psychology, the Global Weight Management Congress Industry Professional Award of Excellence, and the greatest contribution to the field of Energy Psychology. The founder of Food For Life. Over the past 15 years I have supported individuals to achieve their goals in various professional roles. Previously working with complex disabilities and a domestic and family violence counsellor and community educator.

I currently now work in my private practice, Food For Life. In addition to assessing the Functional Nutrition Academy’s Functional Nutrition Course and assess work for the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors.

With studies in Psychology, Anthropology, Nutrition, GAPS, EFT and Counselling I have worked toward understanding the complexities of the human body. In 2016 I completed my thesis at the University of the Sunshine Coast exploring the Brain Gut Connection and impact diet, fermented foods and lifestyle had in Anxiety and Depression. This has impacted how I work with individuals who have suffered from chronic health issues.

During my workshop session on “Working With Clients” I will step you through ethical boundaries, privacy, confidentiality, record keeping, case notes and supervision.
